VASCO: Vasco Carnival Committee chairman Leo Rodrigues along with other committee members, addressed the media on Wednesday to give details of the Programs lined up for the upcoming Vasco Carnival Chairman Leo Rodrigues.
He said that several programs have been lined up for the four-day Carnival festivities, which would be a fusion of music, dance, song and drama.
Rodrigues added that all the programs will end by 10 pm except for Monday during the float parade, where the program could go till around 12 o clock midnight.
“We will have Khel Tiatr in Vasco, Vaddem, Chicalim, Dabolim, Sancoale and surrounding areas. We will have a grand opening ceremony at the main stage outside the municipality on 18th February (Saturday) at 5.30 pm, followed by a fancy dress competition for students in the sub-junior and Junior categories. We will also have inter-school secondary group dance competition in junior ( std 1 to Std 5 ) and senior category ( Std 5 to Std 10 ) followed by Dance showdown, a scintillating dance performance by Vasco top dance academies,” said Rodrigues.
“On Sunday, we will have a sand castle-making competition and tie-breaker tournament at Baina beach in the morning and Dance Troupe by Creation and Konkani Musical show “Viva Carnival and Viva Goa” by Pio Angelo Fernandes in the evening. The King Momo Float parade will take place on Monday and start from St Andrews square and move along the Swatantra Path. We will have Music band NH 17 live performing after the parade”, he said.
Rodrigues says that on Tuesday evening, we will have a Johny be Good with Reza Fernandes program followed by a performance by Goan singer Olavo Fernandes. We will have Goan Folklore and Musical troupe Niz Goenkar and Balck Sapphire Band playing live with fillers of mimicry by Saidutt Kamat and finally followed by prize distribution,” said Rodrigues.
