PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Goa Biodiversity Board is setting up a food processing unit in each taluka of the State by next year.
“Goa Biodiversity Board is in the process to set up a food processing unit in each taluka of the State by next year. These units will purchase every agriculture product at source and after processing will yield a good market rate,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that 20 crores were disbursed to the State’s dairy farmers. Piggery and goat farming are also flourishing in the State.
“Goa is moving towards self-sufficiency; vegetables grown in the State of Goa are now exported to other states, he added.
Chief Minister emphasized the schemes of the Fisheries Department such as Matsya sampada and Blue revolution, which will help keep the vision high to make Goa self-sustainable.
“The call to make the country Atmanirbhar by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi helped us in making Goa Swayampurna,” he said.
Sawant said that the Government’s aim is to reach to the last person of the society, and the State administration is working in that direction.
