PATNA: Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar today has requested Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to grant compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased workers who died in the Verna accident.
The Governor said that he had spoken to the Chief Minister of Goa over the telephone regarding this tragic incident.
“During the talks, the Chief Minister promised to investigate the incident and take the strictest action against the culprits, give compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased workers, provide better treatment to the injured and blacklist the company which was treating the workers inhumanely,” said Arlekar
Arlekar also expressed grief over the death of four workers from East Champaran district of Bihar in a road accident in Goa and expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Four workers died on the spot, while four workers and a driver sustained injuries when a company-operated bus crashed into temporary hutments in a major mishap at the Verna IDC late Saturday night.
The deceased labourers have been identified as Vinod Singh (44), Anil Mahato (39), Ramesh Mahato (41) and Rajendra Mahato (50), while the injured are Dinesh Kumar Singh (31), Tuna Mahato, Rajesh Kumar Mandal (27) and Naresh Singh (62).

“Despite being a small state, Goa has made a lot of progress in the fields of tourism, industry and education etc. By making efforts with a positive attitude, Bihar can also progress in various fields like Goa,” said Arlekar.
