PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today announced that Goa is the first state in the country to offer free of cost D-Dimer and Interleukin 6 tests at GMC for COVID-19 patients.
“These tests will be useful in monitoring the patient’s progression to Covid-19 related cytokine storm & help in timely medical intervention to reduce fatality,” said Rane
He further said that his department will be starting these tests in South Goa District Hospital shortly.
Amid Goa’s tryst with the second wave of the COVID pandemic, the medical authorities are finding it difficult to detect the specific COVID-19 strains in the affected individuals.
In order to resolve this situation, the state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced that the officials are trying to procure all the necessary equipment for the establishment of a genome sequencing laboratory in the state.
