Panaji: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has announced financial assistance for paddy farmers affected by the recent heavy rains that damaged standing crops across Goa.
The relief will be provided under the State Scheme – Shetkari Aadhar Nidhi, aimed at supporting farmers who suffered losses during the harvest season.
Under the scheme, farmers will receive ₹40,000 per hectare, up to a maximum of ₹1.6 lakh for four hectares, and the compensation will be disbursed by December 2025.
Dr. Sawant said, “Our government stands firmly with every Goan farmer. Due to incessant rains, many paddy farmers could not harvest their crops. To support them, timely compensation will be provided to help them recover and prepare for the next season.”
He added that the government remains committed to ensuring the prosperity and stability of the farming community, emphasizing that agriculture continues to be an integral part of Goa’s rural economy.
“We will continue to stand by our farmers and ensure they get the recognition, respect, and support they deserve,” the Chief Minister said.
