CANACONA: In a shocking allegation, Poinguinim Zilla Panchayat member Shobhana Velip has alleged that the
Canacona MLA and Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker threatened her on a platform to disqualify from the membership for anti-party activities if she does not take up development works in his school.
Velip alleges that Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar said that the file kept is ready if a developmental work at Shree Balram Residential School is not included in her list.
The ZP (Poinguinim) Shobhana Velip informed that Zilla Panchayat (South) Chairperson Suvarna Tendulkar warned her not to allotte any funds if she refuses to include Speaker recommended works, which according to Velip she didn’t received any “Proposal” from anyone.
“I had already submitted my list of developmental works as per the proposals I had received from my constituents to the eligible worth of 50 lakhs in my Poinguinim constituency. But, since a few months now, our Chairperson after informing me that we had to do some developmental works at Shri Balram Residential School, Amone (Poinguinim) run an Education Society (of Tawadkar),” she said.
She further said that inspite of informing her that she had not received any proposal nor suggestion from any of constituents for the said work, the Chairperson on numerous occasion verbally insisted that she wont sanction nor permit any funds for any of the proposal.
Speaking at press conference to respond to the statements of Canacona MLA/Speaker in rebutting her claims she made on the sidelines of a ZP meeting (in Margao), recently at Chaudi (Canacona), ZP Shobana Velip informed she has a great desire to work for the benefits of poor people of her constituency, but she is being unduly pressurized by ZP Chairperson to work for the elite in the society, and particularly to the benefits of an individual.
“Tendulkar told me we need to do one work of Speaker. When I told her I can’t include the work without a proposal, she Chairperson insisted that I should include the work as she gets pressure from the top. She told me sternly that if I don’t do that work, I will not get even a rupee,” she added.
She further said at Mahila Shakti program held on 23rd April at Khotigao, infront of everyone, he said “I have kept the file ready to disqualify you.”
Ex- Khotigao Sarpanch Daya Gaonkar, Gaondongrim Ex-sarpanch Anjali Velip, Gaodongrim panch Rohidas Velip, Mr. Madiwal and a few Women from Gaondongrim were present at the press briefing.
