PANAJI: Enforcement agencies in Goa have intensified operations against touting and other unlawful activities along the State’s coastline, with official figures revealing a significant number of cases registered over the last two years.
Data released by authorities shows that action against beach touts has increased considerably since 2025. A total of 102 cases have been booked during this period, including 83 cases registered in 2025 and another 19 cases recorded so far in 2026.
Officials said the drive is part of a larger initiative aimed at improving safety for tourists, preserving order on beaches and preventing illegal practices in coastal areas frequented by visitors.
Authorities have simultaneously launched action against public consumption of alcohol on beaches. Records indicate that 407 cases related to drinking violations have been registered since 2025. Of these, 366 cases were reported last year, while 41 cases have already been booked in the current year.
Teams conducting beach patrols have also cracked down on unauthorised vehicle movement on sandy stretches. Enforcement agencies registered 135 such violations during the same period, with 102 cases booked in 2025 and 33 more cases reported so far in 2026.
Officials maintained that surveillance and enforcement measures would continue across major beach destinations to ensure stricter compliance with regulations and to safeguard Goa’s tourism environment.
