MUMBAI: Goa-born writer Dr. Swapnil Salkar added another major achievement to his creative journey after the OTT film “Stolen” won top honours at the prestigious Screenwriters Association Awards 2026 held at Taj Lands End in Mumbai on May 23.
The film emerged victorious in two major categories — Best Screenplay (Feature Film) and Best Story (Feature Film) — earning widespread appreciation for its powerful storytelling and original writing.
“Stolen” reportedly competed against several high-profile films including Dhurandhar, Haq and Metro… In Dino, but stood out for its emotional depth and compelling narrative.
This marks Dr. Salkar’s third major recognition in the film industry following earlier honours at the Filmfare Awards and the Screen Awards.
The awards were presented by noted personalities from Indian cinema including Sooraj Barjatya, Sriram Raghavan, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Robin Bhatt.
Born and raised in Goa, Dr. Salkar is the son of Dr. Medha Salkar and Dr. Shekhar Salkar. His latest achievement has been hailed as a proud moment for Goa and its creative community.
