UTORDA: A case of assault, theft, and vandalism has been registered by the Verna Police following a complaint by Helcino Alexio Fernandes, a resident of Godinho Vaddo, Majorda, Salcete, Goa. The incident occurred on November 24, 2024, at Utorda Beach and involved significant financial losses and injuries.
According to the complaint, the accused, identified as Melban Fernandes, son of Menino Fernandes, and Benedicta Fernandes, wife of Menino Fernandes, both residents of Majorda, along with unidentified staff members of Benedicta Fernandes, allegedly assaulted Henzil DaSilva, a laborer employed by the complainant. During the altercation, they reportedly snatched DaSilva’s gold chain.
The accused also allegedly caused extensive damage to watersports equipment owned by Fernandes. Two jetskis were rendered non-functional, and a banana ride tube was punctured using a screwdriver, resulting in an estimated total loss of ₹40,00,000. Additionally, Melban Fernandes is accused of snatching Helcino Fernandes’ mobile phone during the incident.
The Verna Police have registered a case under Sections 324(5), 115(2), and 134 read with 3(5) of the BNS Act. PSI Nikhil Dessai of Verna Police Station is conducting further investigations into the matter.
