PANAJI: The state government has decided to reduce the gap between two vaccine doses for teaching and non-teaching staff to six weeks against the current 84 days.
Also, the state government will hold a special vaccination drive for teachers and mom teaching staff on September 5.
“Government has decided to reduce the gap between two vaccine doses for teaching and non-teaching staff to six weeks as against current 84 days,” said Consultant COVID19 vaccination program Dr Anup Netravalkar.
He further said that the government will hold a special vaccination drive for them on September 5.
“September 10 and 11 will be state vaccination holidays, and vaccination will resume back on September 12”, he added.
With many states reopening schools in the past two months, the ministry of education (MoE) focuses on vaccination for teachers and non-teaching staff across states. States had been asked to ensure that all teachers receive at least their first dose by September.
School education secretary Anita Karwal held an online meeting with representatives from various states and union territories and asked them to jointly design a roadmap at the district level for vaccination of all teaching and non-teaching staff.
