PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar has demanded immediate action from the State Government to fill vacant Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) posts in the Goa Police Department and provide justice to candidates awaiting recruitment through the official waiting list.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Goa and the Director General of Police on June 17, Chodankar highlighted what he termed as an inordinate delay in filling the remaining vacancies under the ongoing PSI recruitment process.
According to Chodankar, while 187 PSI posts were advertised, only 126 candidates reportedly joined the training programme conducted in Delhi, leaving more than 60 positions vacant. He pointed out that an official waiting list of qualified candidates was published in February 2026, but despite the availability of vacancies, authorities have not initiated the next stages of document verification and medical examinations for waiting list candidates.
Chodankar said the delay of over four months has created uncertainty and hardship for candidates who successfully completed all stages of the recruitment process and fulfilled the eligibility criteria.
“Such an unexplained delay is causing immense hardship and uncertainty to deserving Goan youth who have worked hard, cleared the examinations and fulfilled all eligibility requirements. This delay amounts to a denial of their rightful opportunity and raises serious questions about the Government’s commitment towards transparent and merit-based recruitment,” he stated.
The GPCC President also noted that several candidates from OBC and other reserved categories are among those awaiting consideration and stressed that all remaining vacancies should be filled strictly in accordance with category-wise reservation norms.
In his representation, Chodankar demanded the immediate issuance of calls to all eligible waiting list candidates for document verification and medical examinations. He also sought the filling of all remaining vacancies as per reservation requirements, a clear and time-bound recruitment schedule to be completed within the next 15 to 20 days, and full transparency regarding the operation of the waiting list and the status of vacant posts.
Chodankar further pointed out that Goa Police continues to face manpower shortages and said that filling the vacant PSI posts would not only strengthen law enforcement but also provide employment opportunities to qualified Goan youth.
“The Government must act without further delay. Every deserving candidate has the right to a fair opportunity, and every vacant post must be filled in the interest of public administration and law enforcement. Goa’s youth deserve justice, transparency and timely action,” he asserted.
The GPCC has urged the Government to respond positively and address the concerns of waiting list candidates at the earliest in the interest of fairness, good governance and strengthening the Goa Police force.
