PANAJI: The Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) has urged media organisations to verify facts before publishing reports concerning the Commission, examination centres, colleges or institutions associated with its activities.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commission expressed concern over reports published in certain local newspapers regarding the recent Computer-Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO).
GPSC clarified that some candidates arrived at the examination centre after the stipulated reporting time and were therefore not permitted to enter the examination campus, strictly in accordance with examination guidelines issued by the Commission.
The Commission stated that reports claiming that the management of Agnel Institute of Engineering and Management, Assagao, prevented candidates from appearing for the examination were factually incorrect and created a misleading impression about the institution.
GPSC emphasised that it maintains cordial and healthy relations with educational institutions across Goa, which provide infrastructure and logistical support for conducting recruitment tests and examinations. It noted that publication of unverified reports can adversely affect the reputation of such institutions and undermine their cooperation with the Commission.
The Commission also requested newspapers not to use the official GPSC logo or emblem in reports without proper authorisation.
Reiterating its commitment to transparency, GPSC said accurate dissemination of information is essential to prevent misleading reports that may damage the image of educational institutions and the Commission.
