PANAJI: Sandesh Jhingan and Udanta Singh were frequently in the spotlight as the Indian national team competed in the SAFF Championships at the beginning of this month as the Blue Tigers advanced unbeaten from Group A to the knockout stages. The team continued to flourish in the semifinal match against Lebanon and the championship match against Kuwait as well, leading India to win their ninth championship in the competition’s 14 previous iterations.
Twenty days later, Jhingan and Udanta have already adapted well to their new club, FC Goa, and their training camp. When they arrived at the Gaurs’ training facility in Salvador do Mundo earlier this week, they were greeted enthusiastically by their new teammates. Since then, things have appeared positive.
When you win something and then look to take on a new challenge in your professional life, it always feels good. Sandesh Jhingan told FC Goa Media, “I feel good about myself and my performances, and I aim to continue this run with FC Goa as well in the weeks and months to come.
“We’ll carry on doing the same thing here (at FC Goa) again. Working together and inspiring one another are major themes. It makes sense, doesn’t it? After all, our ultimate objective is to bring honor to the Club,” the center-back continued.
The Gaurs’ Udanta Singh, a fellow recent arrival who was also Jhingan’s teammate for India, concurred. “Success comes when you want something as a team and demonstrate your shared desire by working hard together. I’m pleased to learn that it’s also taking place in FC Goa. Since I joined, I’ve had a lot of fun working out and learning from the instructors and teammates, he said.
“We’re glad to be back together at FC Goa. The quality and consistency this Club has shown in Indian football throughout the years are the first two things that come to mind when you mention their name, according to Jhingan.
I’ve also always admired FC Goa, Udanta continued. The local football scene is among the greatest in the nation, and the club has ardent supporters. I didn’t have to think twice when the opportunity to sign for them this summer presented itself.
At the club level, they teamed up last year with Bengaluru FC, who went on to win the Durand Cup and place second in the ISL and the Hero Super Cup.
