PANAJI: Despite the party leaders “virtually” declaring ticket to Dayanand Sopte in Mandrem, former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that he has full faith in the party leaders that he would not be sidelined.
A couple of days ago, BjP’s Goa in-charge Devendra Fadnavis and BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade indicated that the Mandrem ticket would be given to sitting MLA Dayanand Sopte.
Speaking to reporters after meeting BJP national President JP Nadda, Parsekar said he has no clue of what has been declared by BJP State President.
“What Mr Devendra Fadnavis or Mr Sadanand Shet Tanavade said I do not know about that as I was not present there for the funcion. I have been a disciplined soldier of the Party for the last 30 years as far as I am concerned. I have successfully handled the responsibility for the last 30 years, and I don’t think it would be any different in the future,” he said.
Irrespective of what has been said, Parsekar stated that he would carry on with his work.
“Hence, I am not concerned about what has been declared, how media has interpreted the statements; I am not bothered. Whatever responsibility Party has given me, I have handled that responsibility,” he stated.
He further exuded confidence that he would be the party candidate in the constituency.
“I have full confidence in the party leaders that they would not snub me, and I will be the party candidate,” he said.
On his show of strength at the Mandrem function, he said, “I am not in a show of strength as the presence of my supporters was only for felicitation of Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Arlekar, who also happens to be my friend. I think the media is simply creating an issue.”
