PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa today dismissed a petition seeking a 12 per cent reservation for ST in Goa Legislative assembly.
The petition filed by ex MLA Prasad Gaonkar had pointed out that considering the population of the ST community in the State, ST community should get 12 per cent of the share in the Goa Legislative Assembly of Goa.
High Court dismissed the petition as it did not merit their argument.
The Division Bench earlier had issued notice to state government and other respondents, including Chief Elector Office, in the matter.
Reportedly, the ST community constitutes around 12% of the total State’s population.
