PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has granted conditional bail to Rohan Harmalkar in connection with the Enforcement Directorate’s investigation into an alleged ₹220.97 crore land-grabbing and money laundering case.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has alleged the involvement of a syndicate that targeted high-value properties whose owners were deceased, residing abroad or had left their land unattended.
According to the agency, the alleged network used forged succession records, wills and sale deeds to establish claims over such properties.
The properties under investigation are located in several parts of North and South Goa, including Anjuna, Revora, Parra, Nadora, Camorlim and Mapusa.
The ED has quantified the alleged proceeds of crime in the case at ₹220.97 crore. During the course of its investigation, the agency also provisionally attached immovable properties valued at approximately ₹212.84 crore.
Harmalkar’s bail comes with conditions imposed by the High Court as the investigation into the alleged money-laundering network continues.
The case stems from allegations of systematic manipulation of property records and documents to take control of valuable land. The ED is investigating the alleged proceeds generated from these transactions under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
