CURCHOREM: Rahul Faldessai, son of Cumbarjua BJP MLA Rajesh Faldessai, apologised at the Curchorem Police Station following a road-rage complaint filed by 70-year-old Shantaram V. Kudchadkar.
Kudchadkar, in his complaint dated September 28, alleged that the incident took place on September 26 between around 8.15 pm and 9 pm while he was travelling towards Margao with his daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
According to the complaint, the family was travelling in a Mercedes SUV when another SUV bearing registration number GA 07 P 4499 allegedly blocked their way near Pontemol Junction, close to Rajyadhyax Grocery Shop. The vehicle was allegedly parked diagonally on the road, resulting in traffic building up at the spot.
Kudchadkar alleged that his daughter-in-law repeatedly honked after the SUV failed to move. He claimed that Rahul Faldessai then stepped out of the vehicle and allegedly used abusive language towards her.
The complainant further alleged that when he approached the occupants and asked them to clear the road, there was initially no response. The SUV reportedly moved only after several people gathered at the location.
Kudchadkar alleged that the confrontation continued after the family proceeded towards Margao. He claimed that Faldessai, accompanied by two or three other persons, was seen near their vehicle, with one of them allegedly appearing to carry a rod or stick.
According to the complaint, the family moved their SUV towards the side of the road fearing a further confrontation. Kudchadkar alleged that the other SUV followed them, raising concerns that their vehicle could be hit or an accident could occur.
The alleged pursuit reportedly continued towards Ambedkar Circle, where Kudchadkar claimed his vehicle was briefly forced to stop. The other SUV allegedly crossed the traffic signal and proceeded towards Quepem.
The complainant said he later obtained the vehicle’s ownership details through his son and identified the person allegedly driving it.
Kudchadkar sought registration of an FIR and action against Faldessai and three unidentified persons, citing provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to allegations including wrongful restraint, intimidation, assault and intentional insult.
Following the complaint, Rahul Faldessai apologised at the Curchorem Police Station. Kudchadkar said he has accepted the apology.
