PANAJI: The Bombay High Court at Goa today issued notice to Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar and PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar in a petition filed against them seeking their disqualification.
MGP leader Ramakrishna Dhavalikar had moved HC against Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar decision to dismiss the disqualification filed against Ajgaonkar and Pauskar- both former MGP MLAs who had switched to BJP in 2019.
The HC adjourned the matter till October 22.
The Goa Assembly Speaker had dismissed the disqualification petitions filed against 12 MLAs – 10 from the Congress and two from the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) – who defected to the BJP in 2019.
The Speaker’s decision a year and a half after a preliminary hearing was held in the petition filed by Congress leader Girish Chodankar in October, 2019.
