PORVORIM: Heated arguments were witnessed in Goa Assembly after Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai raised the issue of higher taxes in Municipalities and unauthorized structures in South Goa.

However, Minister Vishwajeet Rane was unable to immediately reassure the assembly in response to Sardesai’s demands, but he did promise that the subject would be thoroughly investigated.

“Will conduct an inquiry on the missing GIS Survey report of Margao Municipal Council (MMC),” said Rane.
The said report is not available but I assure to inquire about it,” Sardesai said.
He further said that a GIS survey of North Goa and South Goa will be carried out. He also said that a GIS survey will be conducted across municipalities.
MLA Sardesai alleged that there are unauthorised structures and unauthorised commercial structures in the Margao municipal areas.
TCP Minister Vishwajitt Rane made a plan to carry out a Geographic Information System (GIS) survey in both urban regions of North and South Goa districts in response to this problem. He also committed to starting an investigation into the Margao Municipal Council’s missing GIS survey report.
Vijai Sardesai voiced concern with the government’s tardiness in carrying out the GIS survey probe despite these guarantees. He chastised the administration for delaying steps to address the issue.
