CHIMBEL: A theft case has been registered against a housekeeping staff member accused of stealing ₹2.88 lakh from a hotel cash counter in Chimbel.
According to police, the offence was registered on 19 May 2026 at 9:53 PM based on a complaint lodged by Jagdish Shivram Shetty (49), residing at Abidya Hotel near DoubleTree Hotel, Chimbel, Goa.
The complainant alleged that on 15 May 2026 at around 12:37 AM, the accused identified as Mahesh Hanumantappa, a native of Dharwad, Karnataka, who was employed as housekeeping staff at Abidya Hotel, allegedly stole cash amounting to ₹2.88 lakh kept at the hotel’s cash counter.
Police said the accused fled from the spot after committing the theft.
A case has been registered and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Sanket S. Pokhare.
