PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that the government is all aspects identifying land for the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa, including in the hinterland, without affecting any cultivations.
“Government is examining all aspects identifying land including in the hinterland, without affecting any cultivations, as far as possible,” said CM Sawant
He further said that suitable land is being identified for setting up of permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Goa.
“Having an IIT will definitely help in improving the Standard of Education in the State of Goa by providing a conducive environment for interaction with specialize faculty of a National level standard,” he added.
Sawant said that industries will be enabled due to the innovation and technology incubation activities to be undertaken by IIT in its immediate environs.
“National level institute would help to improve the overall standard of the place as there would be ancillary facilities created/required for the institution’s functioning,” he said.
The CM said that having a world-class institute would certainly be a source of motivation for the aspiring students and a matter of pride for the State, which aims to be a global education Hub.
“Our local youth can avail the employment opportunities which would be created by setting up of permanent campus of IIT-Goa,” he added.
