PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has announced an increase in subsidies on Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) bus passes from November 1, offering a 20% subsidy on monthly passes and 30% on annual passes.
The announcement was made during the corporation’s 47th anniversary celebrations, where Sawant highlighted Kadamba’s vital role in Goa’s public transport system and called for modernisation to improve passenger convenience and service efficiency.
The Chief Minister outlined plans to introduce digital ticketing, advance booking facilities and GPS tracking, while emphasising the need to expand the fleet of air-conditioned and electric buses. These measures are aimed at making public transport more accessible, reliable and passenger-friendly.
Sawant also urged Kadamba employees to ensure the uninterrupted operation of bus services and avoid strikes, assuring them that the government would address their grievances.
Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho stressed that Kadamba Transport Corporation must continue to prioritise public service over profit as it enters its 47th year. He called for fleet expansion, improved connectivity and better services for students, industrial workers and residents of rural areas. He also urged employees to maintain punctuality and assured them that their demands would be considered.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister appealed to private bus operators to join the ‘Mhaji Bus’ scheme, which offers financial assistance of ₹20,000 per month to improve passenger transport services.
