BENAULIM: An early-morning knife assault near a busy parking area at Benaulim has led Colva Police to register an attempt to murder case against two accused persons after a Nuvem resident suffered multiple injuries in the attack.
The victim, identified as 32-year-old Zion Alvares of Nuvem, was allegedly attacked near the Blue Corner parking area at around 1:10 am on May 6.
Police said the complaint was recorded at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, where the injured man was undergoing treatment.
According to investigators, the accused — identified as Ransley and Shermen — allegedly assaulted the victim with a knife, causing injuries to his leg and other parts of the body. The attack is suspected to have been carried out with the intention to kill.
Based on the complaint, Colva Police registered Crime No. 39/2026 under Section 109 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Police have initiated further legal formalities, including forwarding the FIR to the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Margao, while alerts were also circulated to police control rooms in Panaji and Margao.
