MARGAO: Konkan Railway has intensified its ticket-checking operations, detecting more than 37,000 cases of unauthorized and irregular travel during April 2026 and recovering nearly ₹2.9 crore in fares and penalties.
According to a press release issued by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, a total of 934 ticket-checking drives were conducted during April alongside routine inspections. These drives resulted in the detection of over 37,000 passengers travelling without valid tickets or violating travel rules.
Railway officials said a total of ₹2.90 crore was collected from the offenders towards due railway fare and penalties.
The corporation’s annual figures also indicate a significant enforcement effort. During the financial year 2025-26, Konkan Railway conducted 11,394 special ticket-checking drives, leading to the detection of 4,99,675 cases of unauthorized or irregular travel. The drives resulted in a total recovery of ₹27.68 crore through fares and penalties.
Konkan Railway has appealed to passengers to travel only with valid tickets to avoid inconvenience and penal action during their journeys.
With the summer holiday travel season witnessing increased passenger movement, the railway administration has announced plans to further intensify ticket-checking drives across the Konkan route. The operations will be carried out in coordination with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and other railway officials to ensure safe, secure and comfortable travel for genuine passengers.
