MARGAO: Konkan Railway conducted a thorough ticket checking campaign from August to October of this year in an effort to step up its scrutiny of unauthorised travelers.
The results of this drive showed that 14,150 people had traveled without permission. During this time, they were all caught and fined a combined Rs 86,37,820.
Analyzing the data, it was found that there were 4,484 cases of unauthorized travel in August, which led to fines totaling Rs 26,67,555.
After that, a similar pattern continued in September, with 4,888 cases and fines of Rs 27,09,700. October saw the culmination of the coordinated effort with 4,778 cases and a sizeable fine collection of Rs 32,60,565.
Konkan Railway has made an appeal to travelers in response to these events, asking them to travel with dignity, pride, and—most importantly—valid tickets. The railway authorities have declared that during the next three months, they will be checking tickets more thoroughly.
