VASCO: Major public utility projects such as Kadamba bus stand, Fires station, fish market, etc. will be taken up immediately. A special meeting to discuss and decide about parking issue, stray cattle management and beautification of Vasco will be held by Tuesday informed Vasco MLA Salkar.
Newly elected BJP MLA of Vasco, Krishna (Daji) Salkar told Goemkarponn reporter that he will call a meeting with the councillors to discuss and decide about the chronic problems faced by the Vasco citizens in day to day life.
He said that Vasco has remained backwards and underdeveloped for the past ten years, and this time public utility works need to be taken up speedily.
When asked more about the issue, Salkar said that people who visit Vasco town regularly face parking issues. So there is a need to solve this problem on an urgent basis.
The next issue is of Stray cattle who are seen roaming, sitting on the busy roads of Port town. In the past several accidents have been caused due to these stray cattle. We are expecting a solution to these issues in the meeting.
Commenting on the incomplete underground cabling in the Vasco, he reminded that there was an accident a few years ago due to the loose hanging cable wherein a motorist lost his life. Salkar said that he would press the underground cabling work from the Vasco area.
Further, when questioned his priorities as a newly elected MLA, Salkar replied that he would immediately take up the pending work of the Kadamba bus stand project in Vasco. The fire station and fish market projects will also be taken up quickly. He also pointed out that he will pursue the Zonal Agriculture Office dedicated to Mormugao taluka. In the past, he had written to the government to set up ZAO in Mormugao to benefit local farmers, and the barren land could be cultivated. Salkar opined that if ZAO comes up in our taluka, it will help the local farmers who could sell their yield.
Salkar opined that the government should consider the Vasco constituency a special case since it has not seen development in the last ten years on whether it will get so many funds from the government.
“Vasco must get additional funds, a special package to bring overwhelming changes,” he said.
