PANAJI: BJP’s St. Andre Candidate Francisco Silveira said that Goans settled in London were responsible for his defeat.
Silveira also claimed that Londonkar’s campaigned for an RGP candidate.
“Londonkar’s supported RGP candidate in a big way and even warned their families to vote for RG candidate if they want financial support,” said Silveira.
He further said that there is a huge population from St Andre, which is settled in London.
“Some people who were given jobs support and worked against me in my constituency,’ he added.
Silveira claimed that his own supporters were seen dangling around at RG and TMC booths on the day of voting.
Viresh Borkar, who contested as a candidate of Revolutionary Goans’ Party (RGP), a new political outfit formed just months before the polls, defeated sitting MLA and BJP candidate Francis Silveira in the St Andre assembly constituency.
