PANAJI: A major water supply pipeline was reportedly damaged during excavation work carried out using a JCB machine, resulting in the leakage of a large volume of water and partial submergence of a road leading towards Atal Setu.
According to available information, the pipeline was struck accidentally during digging operations in the area, causing it to burst and release a continuous flow of water onto the surrounding road network.
The incident led to flooding on nearby stretches and affected vehicular movement for a period of time.
The overflow reportedly resulted in the wastage of several lakh litres of water, raising concerns among residents about poor safety precautions during utility-related excavation work.
Locals have urged authorities to ensure stricter monitoring of digging activities to prevent similar incidents in the future.
