PERNEM: A 32-year-old man, identified as Vivek Salgaonkar, a resident of Khajne, Pernem, has been accused of allegedly harassing his neighbour’s wife through phone calls and messages, allegedly spreading false information about her husband’s relationships with other women.
According to a complaint lodged by a 43-year-old resident of Khajne, the alleged incidents took place between April 2026, when the complainant was at TNK, and August 18, 2026, at Khajne, Pernem.
The accused, reportedly the complainant’s neighbour, allegedly made repeated calls and sent messages to the complainant’s 42-year-old wife, leading her to believe that her husband was involved in multiple affairs.
The complainant alleged that the accused deliberately instigated his wife against him by providing false information, resulting in mental harassment and repeated matrimonial disputes between the couple.
The complaint further stated that the alleged harassment and marital discord escalated, following which the woman jumped into the Chapora River at Colvale and died.
The complaint was registered on October 10, 2026, at 9.45 pm. PSI Sunny Kanekar is investigating the case.
