NESSAI: A worker from Bihar, identified as Anup Kumar Prasad, died after allegedly being struck by the ladder or steps of a concrete mixer truck while carrying out canal repair work near the canal at IDC Nessai.
According to the complaint lodged by Mohan Kumar Kharwar, a resident of Bihar, the incident occurred on October 10, 2025, at around 6.35 pm.
The complaint states that the accused driver, identified as Kiran Lamani, a resident of Sao Jose de Areal, Salcete, and a native of Karnataka, was allegedly moving the concrete mixer in a rash and negligent manner without taking proper care and precautions.
While the vehicle was being moved from the spot, its ladder or steps allegedly struck Anup Kumar Prasad, who was engaged in cutting and binding wires as part of the ongoing canal repair work.
The impact reportedly caused grievous injuries to the worker, who subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
Further investigation in the case is being conducted by LPSI Veronica Coutinho of Maina Curtorim Police Station.
