PERNEM: A 41-year-old man from Paliem in Pernem taluka was allegedly electrocuted while carrying out repair work at his residence, police said.
The incident came to light on April 26 at around 9:02 pm after a medical memo was received from Community Health Centre Tuem informing that a patient, identified as Swapnesh Parab (41), had been brought dead to the casualty.
According to police, enquiries with the deceased’s brother revealed that neighbours were alerted by the screams of the victim’s children. On checking, Parab was found lying unconscious on the floor with an electric wire in his hand. It is suspected that he suffered an electric shock while undertaking repair work at his house.
He was shifted to the health centre by a 108 ambulance, where the attending medical officer declared him brought dead.
In connection with the case, Mandrem Police Station has registered an unnatural death (U.D.) case No. 23/2026 under Section 194 of BNSS. Further enquiry is being carried out by PSI Abhishek Chodankar.
