DHARBANDORA: A 56-year-old man was found unconscious near an electricity substation at Petkem in Dharbandora on Tuesday, prompting a police inquiry into the cause of his death.
According to police, at around 12:55 p.m. on June 30, the Police Control Room (PCR) in Panaji alerted Ponda Police that a man was lying near a water pond close to the electricity substation at Dharbandora.
A police team rushed to the spot near the hot mix plant at Petkem and found the man lying near the substation. During inquiries with local residents, he was identified as Chunna Khalik (56), a resident of Petkem, Dharbandora, originally from Dhanni Purwa in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh.
He was immediately shifted to the Primary Health Centre at Pilliem, Dharbandora, where the attending doctor declared him brought dead.
The body has been preserved at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for post-mortem and other medico-legal formalities.
Further inquiry is being conducted by PSI Prajyot Bakhale of Ponda Police Station.
