PANAJI: Panaji Police have registered a gambling case against a 40-year-old man who was allegedly caught accepting money bets on numerical digital figures near the Taleigao bus stop.
According to police, the accused, identified as Suraj Kumar Sahani, son of Shankar Sahani, originally from Badona in Samastipur district of Bihar and presently residing at Caranzalem, North Goa, was apprehended on May 5, 2026, at around 2:50 pm during a police operation conducted near the bus stop at Taleigao in Tiswadi.
Police said the accused was allegedly found accepting cash bets in an open public place in connection with numerical gambling activities. During the raid, officers seized cash amounting to Rs 1,340 in different denominations along with other gambling-related materials.
Based on a complaint lodged by Head Constable Chandrakant Ghadi of Panaji Police Station, an offence under Section 11(2)(a) of the Goa Public Gambling Act has been registered at Panaji Police Station under Crime No. 83/2026.
Further investigation into the case is in progress.
