VASCO: Sadhvi Sail received a grand welcome in Goa on Thursday following her achievement at the national beauty pageant, with supporters, family members and well-wishers gathering in large numbers to celebrate her return.
The Femina Miss India World winner was welcomed at Goa International Airport by Krishna Salkar, her father and Satish Sail, along with relatives and supporters.
A large crowd, including children and youth, assembled outside the airport to greet the beauty queen. Sail later visited the Damodar Temple and Sai Baba Temple to offer prayers before a celebratory procession was taken out in her honour.
Speaking to reporters, Sail said she felt “ecstatic” to represent Goa on a national and global platform.
“I feel ecstatic to put the country’s smallest but most loved state of Goa on the pageantry map. This is the first time someone from our state has achieved this for India, and I cannot describe the immense pride I feel when I wear ‘India’ across me,” she said.
Sail said the warm reception she received in Goa was emotional and inspiring.
“Being welcomed with so much love, seeing children waiting for me, and knowing I can inspire them — it is truly a dream come true. There is nothing more I could ask for. I only seek blessings and continued support as I prepare for the Miss World pageant,” she added.
Reflecting on her journey, Sail said self-belief was her biggest challenge and credited her success to the support of family and friends.
“The biggest challenge was believing in myself. I would say surround yourself with friends and family who support your dreams. It is never a one-person journey,” she said.
She also said she is ready to embrace future opportunities and hopes to positively impact people through her journey.
Recalling her pageant experience, Sail said she initially felt nervous but focused on enjoying the moment and giving her best on stage.
Sail’s achievement and homecoming celebrations have sparked pride across Goa, with many hailing her success as a landmark moment for the state in global pageantry.
