SANKHALIM:
In a major setback to the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in his constituency, the Dharmesh Saglani led panel won the no-confidence motion in Sanquelim municipal council by 7-0 votes.
The High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) to ensure all steps are taken for a meeting for consideration for Motion of No Confidence against Chairperson of Sanquelim Municipal Council (SMC) Yeshwant Madkar is positively held on April 16.
Upset over the 43-day delay to convene a meeting to discuss the no-confidence motion against Sankhali Municipal Council (SMC) Chairperson Yeshwant Madkar, the ‘Together for Sanquelim’ panel led by ex-chairperson Dharmesh Saglani has decided to petition the high court.
In a news conference, Saglani accused the BJP of delaying the meeting for fear of losing control at the SMC.
“The BJP knows we have seven councillors and they will surely lose power in the SMC. This is a murder of democracy and we will approach the high court on Monday to challenge this delay,” said Saglani.
The Saglani group had filed a no-confidence motion against Madkar on March 18 and a special meeting has been convened on April 30 to discuss the no-confidence motion.
