PANAJI: Social activists revealed that within two days of submitting the application, Pooja Sharma was granted the mutation of the land in Survey no. 135/1-A in Assagao, where the Agarwadekar family’s house was partially demolished.
Additionally, activists have asked the Assagao panchayat to cut off the water and power connections and to refuse to approve the construction of a house on the land.
Activist Rama Kanconkar briefed media, stating that on August 8, 2023, Sharma submitted an application for the property’s mutation, and on August 9, 2023, the procedure was finished.
Xencor Polgi and Mariano Ferrao, two activists, criticized the BJP government for failing to maintain peace and order. They questioned Jaspal Singh, the Director General of Police, about his alleged participation in pressuring officials to demolish the house illegally. The campaigners conveyed their distress about the Agarwadekar family’s agreement to renegotiate the issue.
Additionally, the complainants Kashinath Shetye, Desmond Alvares, and Krishna Pandit stated in a letter to the sarpanch and secretary of Assagao that they object to the Agarwadekar family and the owner being granted permission to construct a house at Bairo, Assagao without first obtaining any ownership, license, or approval, conversion sanad, or approved plans. Additionally, the lawsuit objected to the issuance of any new permits or licenses for construction, repairs, or restoration.
They requested authorities not to issue any licence or permission, and also urged them to recover all charges/taxes.
The activists also demanded authorities to demolish the “illegal construction” and restore the land to its original state.
