PANAJI: Panaji Police arrested a 35-year-old man from Odisha after allegedly finding him in possession of suspected ganja worth ₹2.2 lakh during a raid conducted near the Bombay Bus Stand at KTC, Panaji.
According to police, the offence was registered on May 19, 2026, at around 4 am based on a complaint filed by PSI Suraj Madgaonkar of Panaji Police Station.
Police said a specific raid was carried out between 1.16 am and 1.40 am near the Bombay Bus Stand, during which the accused, identified as Binaya Satapathi, a resident of Tikabali, Kandhamal district in Odisha, was allegedly caught red-handed with 2,242 grams of greenish leafy, fruiting and flowering substance suspected to be narcotic drug ganja.
The seized contraband is estimated to be worth ₹2.20 lakh in the international market, police said.
The accused was placed under arrest at around 4.28 am, with police stating that all Supreme Court guidelines were followed during the procedure.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Suraj Madgaonkar.
