PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that more than 50,000 people across Goa have already collected application forms under the ‘Majhe Ghar’ scheme, which aims to regularise residential houses built across the state. The figure, he said, is expected to reach one lakh in the coming weeks.
Addressing the media, Sawant said that beginning next week, application forms will be made available at deputy collectors’ offices and mamlatdar offices in every taluka to ensure easier access for citizens.
“The government’s objective is to legalise all eligible homes, particularly those built before 1972. We estimate there are around one lakh such houses, and we expect at least half of them to be regularised under the scheme,” Sawant explained.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the Majhe Ghar initiative was launched to protect Goan homes from demolition and provide ownership security to long-standing residents. He appealed to citizens to submit their applications within the six-month deadline to benefit from the scheme.
The state government has described Majhe Ghar as a major step toward resolving long-pending property and ownership issues, providing relief to thousands of Goan families who have been living in homes built decades ago without formal approval.
