Panaji: More than 90 coaches from across Goa came together to participate in the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations held at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium on June 21, 2026.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from coaches associated with the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG), highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle among sports professionals.
The yoga session was attended by Ramesh Tawadkar, who joined participants in observing the occasion. Senior sports administrators were also present, including Ajay Gaude and Bruno Coutinho.
Following the session, SAG coaches interacted with the dignitaries and commemorated the occasion with a group photograph alongside the Sports Minister and senior officials.
The strong turnout of coaches from different parts of the state reflected the growing emphasis on incorporating yoga into sports training and daily fitness routines. The event also reinforced the role of yoga in enhancing flexibility, concentration, recovery and overall well-being, qualities that are increasingly valued across various sporting disciplines.
The International Day of Yoga is observed annually on June 21 and continues to attract widespread participation across Goa, bringing together athletes, coaches, officials and fitness enthusiasts in a shared celebration of health and wellness.
