MOPA: A 35-year-old passenger was booked after airport security allegedly found a prohibited GPS device in his handbag during screening at Manohar International Airport, Mopa.
According to the complaint lodged by Lohit P. N., Shift In-Charge, Inline Screening Security & Vigilance, the incident occurred on April 28 at around 10.15 am in the Domestic SHA screening area.
Police identified the accused as Madhev Varak, a resident of Bhedshwada, Bhuipal, Onda in Sattari, Goa. He was scheduled to travel from Goa to Hyderabad on IndiGo flight 6E-6973 and was seated on Seat No. 15A.
During baggage screening through ATRS-G, security personnel allegedly detected a GPS device in the passenger’s handbag. Police said the device is prohibited without proper authorisation in India and the accused failed to produce any licence or permission from the competent authority.
An offence was registered at 4.19 pm on April 28. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Sagar Vazarkar.
