CURCHOREM: Curchorem Police have registered a case against a motorcycle rider following an accident in which a pedestrian sustained head injuries at Madhegal, Kakoda, on Monday morning.
According to police, the incident occurred on May 5, 2026, at around 11:15 am when the accused rider, identified as Tukaram Naik of Khodwamol, Kalay in Sanguem Taluka, was riding a Hero Splendor motorcycle from Shivaji Chowk, Curchorem towards Sanguem.
Police stated that when the rider reached Madhegal, Kakoda, he allegedly rode the motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner without proper care and caution, thereby endangering human life. The motorcycle reportedly hit pedestrian Raju Naik, a resident of Kakoda, Curchorem, while he was crossing the road from the left side towards the right.
As a result of the impact, the pedestrian sustained head injuries and was provided medical treatment.
Based on a complaint lodged by Head Constable Paresh Shetkar of Curchorem Police Station, an offence under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered.
Further investigation into the case is being carried out by HC Paresh Shetkar of Curchorem Police Station.
