PANAJI/ PONDA: People continued candlelight march and protest to demand justice for Goa’s daughter Siddhi Naik, whose body was found in mysterious circumstances at Calangute beach.
Protests have been held at Ponda, Margao, Mapusa and many other parts of teh State.
But shockingly, the police is still clueless. Every time there is a question, their reply is just, “we are looking for any clues from CCTV footage”.
Siddhi’s father, Sandeep, has demanded that people must stop politicising his daughter’s death.
“I want justice for my daughter, not politics,” he said.
On Raksha Bandhan Day, a peaceful candlelight march was held in Ponda, from Bhavani Sadan upper Bazaar Ponda to Kranti Maidan Ponda, demanding justice for Siddhi Naik.
Opposition leader Digambar Kamat, who was present for the march, said this government failed in its duty to provide security to women in Goa.
He said even the viscera of the deceased was not preserved. He demanded immediate justice to Siddhi.
Youth Congress President Varad Mardolkar, Congress supporter Rajesh Verenkar, MGP leader Dr Ketan Bhatikar, AAP Supporter Bhanudas Naik and many people who were present on occasion demanded justice family of Siddhi Naik.
Rajesh Verenkar at Ponda said the ruling party is busy conducting political tours and not bothered much about their political security and how to win elections.
Security of citizens is a fundamental right that the government should provide and just left on citizens.
Another major protest was held at Old Goa, demanding justice for Siddhi.
Locals of Chimbel, Old Goa, Merces, St Cruz and several other areas shouted slogans for justice to Siddhi’s family.
