PANAJI: The BJP government in Goa has approved the upgradation of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Candolim to a Community Health Centre (CHC), Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced.
The decision follows a request by Calangute MLA Michael Lobo and is aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving access to medical services for residents and tourists across North Goa.
Rane said the upgradation would bring enhanced medical services and comprehensive CHC-level facilities closer to the people, reiterating that accessible, advanced and quality healthcare for every Goan remained a key priority of the government.
He also stated that the construction of the new building would be commissioned soon, marking a further step towards strengthening the state’s public healthcare infrastructure.
The proposed upgrade is expected to enhance the availability of healthcare services in the Candolim area and benefit residents as well as tourists visiting the coastal belt of North Goa.
The announcement highlights the government’s focus on expanding healthcare facilities and improving access to medical care through the upgradation of existing health centres.
