PONDA: The Ponda Police registered an offence against five officials, including SIDCGL, in connection with the drowning deaths of Sewerage worker Shubam Bhople (21) from Kolhapur, Maharashtra, in the sewerage chamber at Kapileshwarim.
The five accused are, namely 1. Mr. Sujit Chaudhary (Supervisor of RDP Company), 2. Board of Members of RDP Company 3. Vijay Nayak , Project Management Consultant officials of (Sewerage and Infrastructure Development Corporation of Goa Ltd.), 4.Pranav Biche, Junior Engineer(SIDCGL) and 5. Sagar Naik (Supervisor) (SIDCGL).
Rashmi Bhaidkar, LPSI Ponda Police Station, registered the offence.
On the date of the crime time, the above noted accused mentioned at Sr. No 1 being the Supervisor of RDP Company who was deputed by accused No 2.
The managing director of RDP Company and the Board of Members failed to provide the safety equipment required to clean the sewerage chamber.
The accused mentioned in Sr. No 2 failed to provide the sufficient safety equipment required to clean the sewerage chamber. The accused mentioned at Sr. No 3, 4 and 5. being the Govt. officials working at Sewerage and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd who were specially entrusted with supervising the entire work of cleaning of sewerage chamber, failed to deter their duties; as a result, the labourers namely Shubahm Bhople (deceased) and Sahabuddin Islam who were entrusted of cleaning work of sewerage chamber.
Further, due to the increase in water level in the chamber and while they tried to rescue themselves Shubahm Bhople drowned in the sewerage chamber and succumbed to injuries wherein his colleague, namely Sahabuddin Islam rescued himself and he sustained minor injuries.
In this connection offence registered u/s 336,337,304-A IPC.
