Vasco MLA Krishna ‘Daji’ Salkar told Goemkarponn that the cleaning and trimming of tree branches from the Mormugao municipal area had already been started 15 days ago.
He said that the Chief Officer of MMC has informed him that additional labours will be put in all 25 wards, and the cleaning of drains and other pre-monsoon works will be done.
When asked about any initiative taken to avoid flooding in Vasco, Salkar said that already efforts have been made to clear major cross drains to prevent water-logging in town. He also said that the proposal to construct four cross drains has been passed on strategic locations prone to water-logging. Only tendering of this work is remaining, which will happen soon,” he added.
It may be recalled that a joint meeting of multiple government departments in the presence of Vasco MLA Salkar had taken place a few weeks ago to discuss pre-monsoon works from the municipal area. After the meeting, major trees posing a danger to the commuters from the city area were trimmed.
