FATORDA: Goa Forward Party (GFP) President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai today slammed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant while stating that projects that are being touted as development do not benefit the people but a few lobbies.
“It’s high time the BJP Goa government understands that development that needs to be brutally imposed on people is not development. Most projects that are being touted as development do not benefit the people but a few lobbies and individuals, apart from being hotbeds of corruption,” said Sardesai.
He further urged CM Sawant to take Goans into confidence and develop consent to execute projects of public interest like the model we have in Fatorda before condemning those who oppose projects.
“Development by Consent is a tried and tested method to solicit participation, assent, and approval of the people who are the ultimate beneficiaries of development,” he added.
Vijai said that after the South Goa result, it’s extremely clear that progressive, secular and democratic Goemkars demand Goa’s opposition politicians rise above their differences and unite to fight the BJP.
“For years, I’ve been calling not only for this unity but also a common minimum commitment leaders must promise the people whatever the political outcomes,” he added.
The Fatorda MLA also said that political parties in Goa must place Goa and Goemkars at the centre of their ideologies. Both in Goa and India, the people have given politicians a direction.
