PANAJI: Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Ravi Naik said that his department has already put up the proposal for advance payment of FPS dealer’s profit margin as per prevailing rates in force i.e Rs. 1.90 profit margin and Rs. 0.30 paisa in lieu of Door Step Delivery and proposal of the same is under submission with Finance (Exp) Department /Government.
“It is pertinent to mention that the department has already put up the proposal for advance payment of FPS dealer’s profit margin as per prevailing rates in force i.e. Rs. 1.90 profit margin and Rs. 0.30 paisa in lieu of Door Step Delivery and proposal of the same is under submission with Finance (Exp) Department /Government,” said Naik.
He further said that since all the laid down procedure has to be followed, there is a delay. The department is aware of hardships faced by FPS dealers in running their FPS and is trying every possible means to ensure FPS dealer’s welfare and has also signed MOU for implementing CSC Services wherein FPS dealers will be able to earn additional income.
“Government of India provides the Central Assistance (50% as per the rates notified by GOI) towards intra-State, handling, transportation, and FPS dealers margin upon claims submission, and the amount is released in instalments. The phase-wise details of the amount claimed, received and paid to FPS dealers as the margin,” he added.
Naik said that GOI has not continued to PMGKAY Scheme further, but in January 2023, the Government of India declared free-of-cost foodgrains distribution to NFSA beneficiaries from January 2023 to December 2023 and accordingly, FPS dealers are required to distribute free foodgrains, and they are not getting their profit margin as earlier.
“However, on Tide Over foodgrains, they are getting their profit margin as earlier,” he added.
