MARGAO: Margao Town Police have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly possessing suspected ganja at Fatorda in Salcete.
According to a complaint lodged on behalf of the State by PSI Subhash Gaonkar of Margao Town Police Station, the accused, identified as Aritra Majumdar, was found in illegal possession of 464 grams of dried greenish leafy and flowery substance suspected to be ganja, valued at approximately Rs 46,400.
Police said the accused is a resident of Leandra Heritage Icon, Fatorda, and originally hails from Pune, Maharashtra.
In connection with the seizure, Margao Town Police registered Crime No. 47/2026 under Section 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The accused has been placed under arrest and lodged in the police station lock-up. Police also informed the accused’s wife, Srijita Majumdar, about the arrest.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Shubham Gaonkar.
