New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar paid glowing tribute to batting superstar Virat Kohli after the franchise secured its second consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) title. Patidar described Kohli as a player who is “used to doing great things” and credited his experience, energy, and guidance as invaluable to the team’s success.
RCB clinched the championship after defeating the Gujarat Titans in the IPL final in Ahmedabad. Kohli played a pivotal role in the victory, remaining unbeaten on 75 runs off 42 deliveries as Bengaluru successfully chased down a target of 156 with two overs to spare. His match-winning innings featured nine boundaries and three sixes.
Speaking after the triumph, Patidar admitted that words were insufficient to describe Kohli’s impact on the team. “If I speak about Virat Kohli, I don’t have words to explain him. He is used to doing great things,” the RCB captain said. He added that younger players constantly learn from Kohli, both on and off the field, and benefit from the advice and insights he shares.
Patidar highlighted Kohli’s dedication and professionalism, noting that the veteran batter’s intensity during training sessions is no different from what he displays during competitive matches. According to him, Kohli regularly interacts with teammates and helps them improve their understanding of the game.
The season was another remarkable one for Kohli, who finished with 675 runs, including one century and five half-centuries. Despite retiring from Test cricket and T20 internationals, he remains one of the sport’s biggest global icons and a major attraction for fans.
RCB’s latest title also elevated Patidar into an exclusive group of captains to win back-to-back IPL championships, joining legends MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. Patidar credited the team’s confidence, consistency, and strong support system for their successful title defence.
