PANAJI:
Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane held a meeting with the officials to streamline the functioning of Urban Development Department.
Rane said that a review meeting was conducted with the Department of Urban Development in the presence of Secretary UD Ramesh Verma, DMA Gurudas Pilarnekar, Commissioner CCP and chief officers of all Municipal Councils to review the current progress against the ideal performance of the department.
“To broaden the domain further and tighten loose ends, various issues like implementation of GIS-based applications to manage solid waste, strategies on fast-tracking pending files, completion of pending projects and projects completed in various municipalities, preparation of a master plan for seamless functioning, empanelment of auditors in ULBs, audit reports, recovery of outstanding tax, trade licenses, rentals, arrears and more were discussed. We also addressed the problem of single-use plastic and actions to be taken against violators,” he said.
He stated that Comprehensive meetings would be held every month to take stock of the projects and concrete the specifics of plans in the pipeline; this will ensure the Department works efficiently and systematically.
